Sightseeing around Belle Vue Chalets

Nainital is a beautiful lake town surrounded by the lush green hills, quaint town life and markets. There are pretty alleyways to walk through, and various picturesque places to check out. It's a small heaven situated near Belle Vue Chalets, and is also the largest town in the region.

Here's a list of places you must check out when in Nainital:

Nainital Lake

Naini Lake: The most beautiful of all lakes in the region. This lake gives identity to the town, which is settled around it. The waters reflect the color of surrounding hills, with colourful boats floating within it, ferrying tourists from one shore to the other.

Naina Devi Temple

Naina Devi Temple: Situated by the lake, this temple is from where the town took its name. Dedicated to the goddess, the positive energy of this temple can give a brief respite midst the touristy hustle-bustle of Naintial.

Raj Bhawan

Raj Bhawan: It is also known as the Governor’s house, and is one of the prettiest of sights in Nainital. Raj Bhawan was once the official residence of the governor of North–West province of colonial India. It is now the official residence of Uttarakhand’s Governor, and is one of the very few Raj Bhawans across the country that are open to the public.

Gurney House

Gurney House: Are you a historian? Then you’d love this part of the town, located on the Aryapatta hill, Gurney house once belonged to the famous British Hunter Jim Corbett. You can visit this place, before you finally venture down to the jungles of Corbett National park.

Govind Ballabh Pant Zoo

Govind Ballabh Pant Zoo: It’s a well-kept zoo with several high altitude animals like Himalayan black bear, Siberian tiger, hill fox, and many other species of wolves, ghorals, barking deer and sambhar. One of the places to visit with kids in Nainital.

Tiffin Top

Tiffin Top: A 4 km trek from the main town, this beautiful view point sits at the top of Aryapatta region. You can pack your meal and hike till the top, which is situated at the height of 2300 mts, and can get some great panoramic views of the Himalayas.

Naina Peak

Naina Peak: If you’re an avid trekker, then Tiffin Top might not do it for you. You will need something more challenging, which is Naina Peak. Situated at a height of 2600 mts, it is the highest point around Nainital. The trek to Naina Peak leads through a dense forest of Rhododendrons, Deodars and cypresses. You can get a bird eye’s view of Nainital and terai region from here.

Snow View and Rope Way

Snow View and Rope Way: Snow view has always been tourists favourite. There’s a ropeway with two red coloured cars catering to the tourists going up the mountain. There are rides, restaurants, and a skating rink at Snow View. Plus while travelling through the ropeway, you also get to see some amazing views of the region around.
